The Committees
We are committed to advancing our mission of promoting justice, equity and the well-being of communities of color. To further strengthen our efforts, we have committees made up of members of the community to always keep us grounded and current. Our committees members bring diverse perspectives, expertise, and a shared commitments to driving meaningful change.
Below are the descriptions of the committees with CURRENT OPENINGS

Communications Committee
Purpose:
The Communication Committee is responsible for developing and managing the organization’s communication strategies to ensure effective messaging, stakeholder engagement, and brand consistency.
Responsibilities:

Manage the organization’s social media platforms, website, newsletters, and press releases.

Create communication plans for events and initiatives.

Maintain consistent branding and organizational voice across all platforms.

Develop strategies to engage the community and stakeholders effectively.
Member Commitment:
-
Attend monthly committee meetings (in person or virtual).
-
Allocate 5–10 hours per month for tasks such as content creation, outreach, and strategy development.

Respond to emails and communications promptly.
-
Work collaboratively with other members and report updates to the board.
Fundraising Committee
Purpose:
The Fundraising Committee focuses on creating and implementing strategies to ensure financial sustainability for the organization.
Responsibilities:

Develop an annual fundraising plan with specific goals and timelines.

Organize fundraising campaigns, donor outreach efforts, and sponsorship drives.

Identify and cultivate relationships with potential donors and corporate sponsors.
-
Collaborate with the Events and Communication Committees to promote and support fundraising activities.
Member Commitment:

Attend monthly committee meetings (in person or virtual).

Dedicate 5–15 hours per month to planning and executing fundraising initiatives.

Research potential funding opportunities and assist in preparing grant applications.

Act as an advocate for the organization within your personal and professional networks

Events Committee
Purpose:
The Events Committee is tasked with planning, organizing, and executing events that align with the organization’s mission and goals.
Responsibilities:

Plan and coordinate logistics for events, including venue selection, permits, and scheduling.

Work with the Fundraising and Communication Committees to ensure the success of events.
-
Recruit and manage volunteers for event support.
-
Track event attendance, feedback, and outcomes for future improvement.
Member Commitment:

Attend monthly committee meetings (in person or virtual).
-
Dedicate 5–15 hours per month during peak event planning periods.
-
Participate in at least one major event annually.
-
Ensure timely communication and collaboration with other committees.
